New Season – New Sous!
Our newest addition to the family here at the blue, we welcome Hector Guerrero, the new Sous Chef serving under Executive Chef Christie Tenaud. Like most chefs, Hector’s inspiration to create originated as a child, while cooking with his mother in their kitchen in Ecuador. Describing his mother as “always in the kitchen” he found that like her, he had a knack for cooking traditional Ecuadorian food.
Despite his talent, hospitality was not Hector’s first choice as a career. In pursuit of a Masters degree in Business, Hector came to Florida almost 8 years ago. Loving to cook Italian seafood dishes, Hector’s abilities were discovered by a friend, Chef Ray Ramero, a teacher at the Mizner Park, Sur La Table. Soon after, being introduced to Chef Adam Potash, he began his career in hospitality, at a local South Florida based catering company.
Moving on in the hospitality industry, Hector began to work in local, Deerfield Beach based restaurants, Cafe Med and then to follow, Oceans 234. Shortly after his arrival, Hector became Sous Chef at Oceans 234. Then after, spending some time at Oceans 234, and inspired by cultural influence of different cuisines, Hector decided to pursue another sector of the hospitality industry of fine dining. Just in time, as Executive Chef Christie was looking for a new Sous Chef to complete her line for the new season at the blue.
Hector arrived at the blue in the beginning of summer 2016, ready to create and contribute to the blue’s concept of Elevated American Cuisine. We are confident that Hector is going to be a great part of the team and family here, at the blue, with his philosophy “If you are going to give a plate to someone, give what you would give to your mother”.
We hope to see you all at the top of the tower of the Boca Raton Resort and Beach Club this season as we introduce new seasonal menus designed by Executive Chef Tenaud that we are confident you will enjoy.
